How well do you know me?

Recently, I created a “How well do you know me?” quiz in facebook and let friends try it. And the result? Think I was unpredictable. Haha…Nobody scored well including my sis. And actually the quiz was a tough and tricky one too!
So here goes friends, the explanations for the answers to the quiz.

1. What is my favourite colour?
  • White
  • Black
  • Brown
  • Blue
  • Green
Answer: Green. I like all kinds of green.

2. Which colour do I dislike the most?
  • Pink
  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Purple
Answer: Red. Probably I should be more specific here. Chilli Red. I hate bright reds, including Chinese New Year those kinds of reds. Most ppl answered pink. Yea. My love and hate of pink change very often. And at this moment, I love pink wor…Haha

3. Which of the following bands sang my favorite song?
  • The Wallflowers
  • Matchbox Twenty
  • Goo Goo Dolls
  • The Script
  • Savage Garden
Answer: The Wallflowers. They sang “One Headlight” which I have been very loyal to this song for almost 13 years. The rest of the bands sang songs that I like, but wasn’t the favorite.

4. What was the first English nickname given by friend?
  • Kimmy
  • Kimberly
  • Kim Kim
  • Jimmy
  • Emily
Answer: Jimmy. This nickname was given during primary school. When I first introduced myself to friends in a school camp, I speak my Chinese name too fast until they heard “Jimmy Hua” instead of “Jin Ming Hua”. The “ng” sound was silent. During the entire camp period, I was called Jimmy. And for the rest of options, I was also given those nicknames as well, but was during my secondary school.

5. Favorite candy/sweet?
  • Butterscotch
  • Toffee
  • Choc Éclair
  • Mint
  • Lollipop
Answer: Choc Éclair. I prefer Choc Éclair ‘coz it has the caramel and chocolate in the middle. The second close answer was toffee. But toffee is too sweet for me sometimes.

6. What would I be willing to eat for 10,000 dollars?
  • Cockroach
  • Worm
  • Lizard
  • Grasshopper
  • Cricket
Answer: Lizard. Haha… Surprising? To tell u the truth, I have tasted lizard when I was very young. I picked up a dead lizard and chewed it. I couldn’t remember the taste of it. So I guess I would have been able to eat it again. Anyway, lizard is a type of meat only. Still edible. The other options are definite no for me. Yes, I’m those adventurous type, I would go bungee jump and sky dive, but eating bugs? Never. I think of the bugs taste are bitter and imagine eating it, the slimy juice oozes out. Yuck.

7. My favourite sport to watch is?
  • Formula One racing
  • Tennis
  • Badminton
  • Football
  • Basketball
Answer: Tennis. I love to watch grand slam tournament on tv. Last time, I love to watch F1, but ever since Schuey left, the race was not exciting anymore.

8. If I had to eat the same kind of food for a month, what type would it be?
  • Pizza
  • Bread
  • Rice
  • Noodle
  • Porridge
Answer: Noodle. People who choose pizza know that this is my favourite food among the 5 choices. (good for you! ) But, if I were to have this food over and over again for the whole month, I will definitely hate it for the rest of my life. I wouldn’t want to risk turning my favourite food to the food I hate the most, would I? People who choose rice totally doesn’t know me at all. I don’t like to eat rice at all. As for bread and porridge, I’m ok ok with it only. The reason I chose noodle is because this is the only thing I won’t hate if I were to eat over and over again. And who says you cannot change the flavor of the noodle? Can be fishball noodle, fish noodle, wan tan mee, hokkien mee, char kuey teow, laksa…. Wahahaha…

Hidden Talents

It seems Britain's Got Talent is providing a lot of hot news recently. Each week we've had a surprising talented person emerged out from this country.

The first was Susan Boyle. Millions of hits in Youtube to watch how her performance was during the show. Yeah, I agree she had an amazing voice despite her looks. That says it all. I still don't understand why people are so hyper about it. Yeah yeah.. We all judged her by her looks and condemned that she was a lousy singer until she opens up her voice. Sure, she had an amazing voice. And that's all about it! There are so many talented singers out there who can sing and act in the broadway lah, but also same as her who is waiting for a chance to get to perform. So, there's nothing to talk so much about.

Then a week later, Shaheen Jafargholi performed. 12 year old boy who sang exceptionally well when he was given another opportunity by Simon. But this talent was not as huge publicized by the media as Susan.

Another week passed, another contestant wowed us again. 10 year old ballerina, Hollie Steel who had an amazing voice as well. She was again misjudged by Simon when he wanted to stop her dancing until she opens up her voice.

I must say, Britain had a lot of hidden talents. They really sing so well but wasn't given chances to break into the commercialized music industry. Way to go, Britain! Continue digging up hidden talents in your country. Look at Leona Lewis from X-factor, how successful she is.

nightmare

I had the worst nightmare ever. Nope, not dreaming about monsters or anything stuff like that.
This dream I had was so realistic to me. I seldom had such logical kind of dream and can still remember every detail after waking up. Probably it was my guilty conscious towards this person. I dreamed of my ex.
I dreamed that we reconcile back. At first, it was a good feeling to get back together with him. Then suddenly, it turned bad. It reminded me why we broke up. We were not in talking terms again and break up again.
Probably this was not very scary to you. But it was to me. Dreams like these give a logical hint, which in this dream hinted me that I fear of committing myself into another relationship. The heartaches that we have to endure in a relationship is not fun at all. Being carefree is still the best for the moment ;)

Another nightmare to some of the women out there is getting old. I said some! me not included in that category. Haha. Getting old is one of the journey that we had to go through. Yeah, getting loose fats, cellulites, crowfeet, wrinkles, grey hair are not very pleasant looking, but it will be part of our body when we age. We had to deal with that.
Still, we hate to admit we are getting old when our heart is still young. So, when little kids called us aunty/uncle, sometimes you would still grudge abt it. "Why? Do I look so old? Why not called as kor kor/jie jie (brother/sister)?" Haha.
A cute incident happened to me regarding the "aunty rank". A cute little girl was holding back the lift when I came back home. I wanted to enter the lift, then she blocked me, saying, "等一下aunty" (wait aunty). I thought she refered me as aunty. Few seconds later, there was another aunty fastened her pace and entered the lift. Only then I realized she was referring to her aunty and not me.
I didn't mind about being called as aunty anyway. I have a cute 3 year old niece, a 25 year old nephew (he called me for fun sake lah and gave me tonnes of creative nicknames). And my friends are having babies already! Rank promoted! Haha.

guessing games

ooh... don't you like guessing games on tv?

there's a new show on tv, "Harper's Island", which lets you have some suspense and guessing games too! It airs on every friday in US, while in Singapore, it shows on Sundays. Last week just had the pilot episode. A total of 13 episodes and only have one season (not like most drama that drags on to forever never ending episodes until the scriptwriter ran out of ideas and it isn't interesting anymore)

well, the plot is this. A group of people attend a wedding reunion in an island, where gruelsome murders happened some years ago and the killer is dead. And guess what? this group of visitor shall meet their doom when they set foot on this island. At least one person get killed for each episode. So, the guessing begins... who is the killer? who is the next victim?

what's even more interesting is that the actors who acted in it did not receive their full scripts. They only get the scripts for that particular episode. So, they were kept dark on who is the killer as well. Ahhh.. must be really suspense for the actors. Everytime they get their scripts, they would also think, "Am I the next victim? or I'm still surviving?" They would be guessing who is the killer as well.

It's kinda cool to have this sort of idea from the creator. It's like drama + reality show. But I hope the ending isn't so predictable. So far, the pilot episode builds up the characters' story, and there are really a lot of characters in it. And the series is not as gruelsome as I thought it was supposed to be ( I still think the most gross killing film is still "Saw"). Yup. Up till now, 2 person was killed. Can't wait to know who is the killer.

Another reality tv show I liked which had contestants play guessing game is "The Mole". It's not a very popular show here but somehow I watched it way back in high school days and could still remember enjoying the show. The idea is this, this group of contestants will be working as a team to play challenges that add money to their prize, which only one person can win it in the end. The catch is here, there will be a person called as "the mole" who will be sabotaging the group's prize money. Contestants will need to identify the identity of the mole. So, at the end of each episode, contestants will need to answer a few multiple choice questions on who they think is the mole. The person with the least correct answer will get eliminated.

Quite fun right? wish I could participate such a game too. i mean reality shows like "the mole" and not "harper's island". I don't wanna get killed. hehe

p/s: changed my blog layout. beginning to like pink colour again. haha. and I added some of my favourite music too :)

Being a woman is meant to suffer

This is just in a girl's point of view.
You see, once you are born as a girl, your suffering journey begins.
I'm sure every girl out there will dread when every monthly period comes and visits her.
Different girl have different symptoms. Some better ones get good appetite. Some mild ones get bloated stomach, mood swings. Some worse ones get backaches, fatigue, stomach crampy, vomiting etc. Every month varies depending on the diet you had. Sometimes you forbid yourself eating the food that you love because of the consequence after eating it will be dead dreadful. That sucks!
Sometimes period is late or too early, you start worry whether you had some health problems.
Apart from suffering this monthly thingy, if you are lucky enough, you get to have babies. And no joke, you suffer from morning sickness for the first 3 months, then your stomach get bigger and bigger. and in labor, you suffer the pain again to give birth to the baby (unless you opt for Caesarean, lesser pain). Health problem arises if you didn't take good care of your body after giving birth. And you are in charge of taking care of the kids, sacrificing yourself for the family you and your man starts.
So, men out there, please do give some consideration to your lovely woman partner. I know men also have to suffer as well, but in a different kind of way. You have no idea how painful the feeling us woman have all this while, and also the hurtful feelings if you didn't show some concern towards us.

p/s: this entry is dedicated to my friend, who has a bf which in my opinion is acting like a selfish jerk!

Car Accident

I went back to my hometown last weekend for Qing Ming. It's been long long years I haven't pay a visit to my grandparents. Helped family members do some errand that Saturday. So I had the guts to drive the car, to tone my rusty driving skills. (Actually I'm not afraid of driving on the road. It's more of afraid of parking the car, coz my judgement skills are lousy, especially on parallel parking. Even the normal swerve in parking, I can't even park in the box properly. I would park until it got over other car's parking slot. hehe)

All the way, nothing happened. Until the time to go back home, near my house junction, I met a minor accident. And it wasn't my fault. I was driving straight as usual, pass by the motorbike who later suddenly swerve into the left side of my car. Apparently avoiding something, which i can't remember. I immediately hit the brakes and the guy on the motorbike make a slow motion of falling down from his bike. My left back door was greatly scratched by the motorbike.

And at the moment, I was in shock. Didn't know what to do, traumatized. There was traffic jam coz my car blocking the road. I pull my car aside and went down to check whether the guy was okay or not. He had some scratches on his leg, bleeding. He said he was alright. Asked whether need to go hospital or have some first aid supplies as we are in front of a temple. He said he was alright and said it was his fault. So we didn't make police report and both of us drove away. Luckily there were some passerbys who helped him to get up and so-on. Coz I totally didn't know what to do.

And you know what? when i reached back, got slight scolding from my dad. He says any accident must go report to the police and get witness and also insurance. He asked me what's the bike's number and his telephone number? I said, i dunno. Then kena scold again. Must know the number just in case they go and report that you are at fault. These things very hard to argue. And somemore, you don't know maybe that guy who fell down at first seems okay, but later had some broken bone or something. Only then I realized what I should have done at that time which I didn't do. I was feeling damn guilty about it.

Having phobia of the motorbikes already. Think need some time to get back my courage to drive again. My first ever accident. But, luckily no one was hurt. So, here's a note of what to do in case of an accident:
  1. Pull over your car to the side.
  2. Asked the person whether he/she is okay. If not, go to hospital immediately.
  3. Whether it is a minor accident, make a police report. So that both sides can claim insurance for the damage of the car.
  4. Get the contact number of the other party.
  5. If you don't know how to handle, call for immediate help, ie your family. They should have more experience in these.
  6. Drive with extra alert next time on the roads!
Still feeling bad for the biker even though is not my fault. And also felt bad for the car scratch. Motorbikes should have some protection or something. Maybe helmet just not enough, should have ankle, arm, knee guard la...=(
